ABOUT
SRI SAI SHANKAR TRUST

SSS Trust is a service-driven organization founded on the principles of compassion, medical excellence, and social responsibility. With a strong legacy in healthcare and a growing focus on environmental sustainability, the Trust is committed to improving quality of life for underserved communities through integrated and impactful interventions.

Over the years, the Trust has evolved from a healthcare-focused initiative into a multidisciplinary organization addressing broader determinants of public health, including water quality, sanitation, awareness, and community resilience. Its work spans rural, semi-urban, and underserved regions, where access to quality healthcare and basic infrastructure remains limited.

By combining clinical expertise with grassroots implementation, the Trust aims to create long-term, sustainable improvements in community well-being.

OUR PHILOSOPHY

At the core of Sri Sai Shankar Trust’s work lies a simple but powerful belief:

''Healthcare is not limited to treatment — it begins with prevention, awareness, and access to safe environmental conditions.''

The Trust recognizes that issues such as unsafe drinking water, poor sanitation, and lack of awareness significantly contribute to disease burden. Therefore, its approach integrates healthcare delivery with water management and community education to address both symptoms and root causes.

About Our Trust

SSS Trust stands on the foundation of service, compassion, and decades of deep medical expertise, led by Dr. H. N. Sowbhagya, a distinguished Ophthalmologist with 39 years of post-PG clinical and teaching experience, who has served as Professor and Head at leading institutions, conducted thousands of cataract surgeries through community outreach, and contributed extensively to national ophthalmic research and public health initiatives.

She is joined in this mission by Dr. L. Appaji, one of India’s most respected Paediatric Oncologists, whose illustrious 39-year career at Kidwai Memorial Institute of Oncology includes pioneering work in childhood cancers, participation in Indo-US collaborative research, mentorship of generations of postgraduate doctors, over 110+ publications, and recognition through numerous national awards including the Doctors’ Day Award (Govt. of Karnataka) and the BC Roy Award.

Together, the couple brings an extraordinary blend of medical leadership, academic excellence, and a lifelong commitment to humanitarian service—forming the guiding ethos of SSS Trust.

Strengthening the Trust’s social impact further, Dr. CA Sandhya P. Nagar joins as Vice President, bringing her expertise as a Chartered Accountant–turned–Educational Psychologist whose mental health and life-skills interventions have reached over 1.9 lakh students across 70+ institutions in India.

Sustainability Solutions for Sustainable Societies is the newly established water and environmental sustainability division of Sri Sai Shankar Trust. The unit aims to bridge public health with water security by supporting safe drinking water access, water-quality monitoring, groundwater recharge, decentralized wastewater treatment, and water–health education in schools and rural communities. SSS Trust works to create replicable models of sustainable water management that strengthens resilience and improves quality of life in underserved regions.
